When I'm Dreaming
I'm falling under the spell
of a sweet Valium lullaby,
retreating back into my shell,
my flow of thought is running dry.
My last imagined images
make their way into my dreams.
A scene with burning villages,
a wind carrying people's screams.
I'm heading to the flames,
the light is hypnotizing.
I want to stare at the remains
and people who are agonizing.
There's such beauty in destruction.
Is there beauty in me too?
I'll always be under construction,
but there are things I can't undo.
